Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh chaired a high-level review meeting at Lok Bhavan on Monday to finalize the state’s preparations for the upcoming 73rd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC). Scheduled to take place in Shillong on June 4, the crucial regional meeting will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
During the review, Governor Singh reiterated the Central Government’s steadfast commitment to accelerating development across the Northeastern region. He urged all state departments to intensify their efforts and ensure that Mizoram’s developmental priorities, challenges, and aspirations are clearly and effectively projected during the plenary session.
A detailed presentation was delivered by David Lalthantluanga, Secretary of the State Planning and Programme Implementation Department. The presentation outlined the comprehensive follow-up actions taken by Mizoram on decisions and resolutions passed during the previous NEC plenary session, which was held in Agartala in December 2024.
The review meeting underscored Mizoram’s determination to align its local growth strategies with broader regional development goals. Officials emphasized that the state is fully prepared to showcase its recent progress and advocate for its key infrastructural and economic priorities at the Shillong session.
