Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday conferred the prestigious Rajya Puraskar Award on 149 Scouts and Guides at a ceremony held in the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan. The Rajya Puraskar, the highest state-level recognition of the Mizoram Bharat Scouts & Guides (MBS&G), marks a major milestone in the journey of young Scouting and Guiding achievers.

Addressing the award recipients, the Governor congratulated them for their dedication and hard work. He said the Rajya Puraskar reflects discipline, service, perseverance and self-improvement—values that form the foundation of the Scouts and Guides movement. He urged the awardees to consider this honour as the beginning of a greater journey and encouraged them to aspire for the Rashtrapati Puraskar, the highest national-level distinction in Scouting.

The Governor also praised the commitment and community spirit of Mizo youth, expressing confidence that their values and training would guide them toward responsible citizenship. He highlighted the important role of Scouts and Guides in protecting the environment, contributing to community development and preserving Mizoram’s natural heritage. As the Chief Patron of MBS&G, he reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening and expanding the movement across the state.

State Chief Commissioner H. Lalhmingthanga welcomed the gathering and thanked the Governor for his continued encouragement and support. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by State Commissioner of Scouts Pu K. Lalthawmmawia.
