The government of Mizoram

The government of Mizoram has refuted claims regarding an alleged attempt to transfer the state capital from Aizawl to Thenzawl in the Serchhip district, attributing the misunderstanding to a “clerical error” in a correspondence from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The opposition party, Mizo National Front (MNF), has accused Chief Minister Lalduhoma of covertly planning to relocate the capital to his home constituency.

In response, the government led by the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has clarified that there are no intentions to move the capital from Aizawl, asserting that the confusion arose from a typographical mistake in the letter issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The ZPM administration has emphasized that the capital will remain in Aizawl, and there have been no discussions at the policy or Cabinet level regarding its relocation.
