Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Wednesday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Trauma Care Facility at Civil Hospital, Aizawl, terming it a “major step forward” in strengthening the state’s emergency healthcare system. Funded with ₹121.50 lakh from the Centre and ₹450 lakh from the state, the trauma unit features a triage centre, treatment rooms, X-ray and CT scan units, and a minor OT, along with staff quarters. It is part of a larger plan to enhance emergency response, now bringing the total number of operational trauma care centres in Mizoram to seven.

At the event, Lalduhoma announced a hospital expansion with two new blocks—Block A and Block B—estimated at ₹88.33 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK). He also revealed plans for new services including Cardiac Care, Dialysis, and IVF, promising improved access for underprivileged patients.

Health Minister Lalrinpuii thanked the CM for his leadership and assured continued health infrastructure development. The trauma project, delayed earlier by land disputes and COVID-19, now signals a new chapter in Mizoram’s healthcare.
