Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Sunday led the Olympic Day Run 2025 at the historic Lammual Ground in Aizawl, rallying citizens to embrace fitness and uphold the values of the Olympic spirit. Organised by the Mizoram Olympic Association, the event drew a large crowd of students, athletes, sports officials, and fitness enthusiasts from across the city. Held to mark the international Olympic Day, which commemorates the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on June 23, 1894, the event was part of a global movement spanning over 150 countries. The 2025 theme, “#Let’s Move +1, India!”, encouraged every Indian to take one extra step toward physical activity and wellness. Chief Minister Lalduhoma, who was joined by Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, addressed the participants before the run began. In his speech, he highlighted the true meaning of the Olympic Day Run—not just as a physical activity, but as a celebration of health, unity, and sportsmanship.

“The Olympic Day Run is not just about running,” he said. “It’s about celebrating health, friendship, and the spirit of sportsmanship. I encourage every citizen of Mizoram to include some form of physical activity in their daily lives—not just today, but every day.”He praised the efforts of the Mizoram Olympic Association for consistently promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, and appreciated the support of young athletes and local communities in strengthening Mizoram’s reputation as a hub for sports talent in India.Under the guidance of Sports Minister Hmar, the state has seen the expansion of grassroots-level sports programmes, encouraging greater youth involvement across various disciplines. This has contributed significantly to Mizoram’s emergence as a nursery of sporting excellence in the country.

The Olympic Day Run 2025 in Aizawl was more than just a fitness event. It also included cultural performances, motivational speeches, and fitness demonstrations, creating an atmosphere of celebration and unity. A special message from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) urged citizens to embody the Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect in their daily lives. The morning culminated with a symbolic flag-off by the Chief Minister, as hundreds of runners took to the streets of Aizawl. With vibrant energy and community participation, the city turned into a moving tribute to the Olympic ideals. As the sun rose higher over Lammual, the event stood as a powerful reminder of Mizoram’s growing commitment to health, wellness, and the belief that fitness is not a one-day affair—but a way of life.
