Mizoram Chief Electoral Officer Garima Gupta on Friday visited members of the Delete Church community at Zotlang, Champhai and interacted with them regarding their refusal to enroll in electoral roll during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
The CEO visited the community to understand, the reasons for which the members had chosen not to enroll themselves in the electoral roll. 
The members received the CEO warmly, and a cordial interaction was held between both sides. During the interaction, members of the Delete Church informed the CEO that they did not wish to have their names included in the electoral roll as they felt that doing so was not compatible with their religious beliefs.
During her visit to Champhai district, she meet with election officials, representatives of civil society organisations and political parties.
The CEO was accompanied by Joint CEO Ethel Rothangpuii, Champhai Election Officer Ngulzaṭhuama, and 24-Champhai South AERO Lalchhuanawma Ralte.
The Election Commission of India is undertaking the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 in an intensive manner to ensure a clean and accurate electoral roll, to remove ineligible names, and to ensure that all eligible Indian citizens are duly included in the electoral roll. The process is now nearing completion, with the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on September 7.
