Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma said Mizoram Budget for 2026–27 has been prepared in accordance with the recommendations of the 16th Finance Commission.

In a social media post, the Chief Minister stated that nearly 80 per cent of Mizoram’s proposals were accepted by the 16th Finance Commission during its visit to the state, based on the horizontal devolution criteria and weightage. He highlighted that Mizoram’s share under horizontal devolution has increased compared to the 15th Finance Commission, rising from 0.50 to 0.564 under the 16th Finance Commission.

According to the post, this increase is expected to result in higher tax devolution to the state during the period from 2026 to 2031. While the percentage increase may appear modest, the Chief Minister noted that the actual financial gains for the state would be substantial.

The post further stated that Mizoram’s government revenue is projected to increase by ₹1,500 crore compared with previous years. It also pointed out that, under the Finance Commission’s arrangements, allocations for various schemes — including SASCI — are set to rise for Mizoram.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that Mizoram is among the north-eastern states to have recorded an increase in its horizontal devolution share under the 16th Finance Commission.
