Chief Minister Lalduhoma made the announcement during a felicitation programme held at the R. Dengthuama Indoor Stadium in Aizawl. Congratulating the two players, he described their achievement as a historic milestone for Mizoram and a moment of immense pride for the state.
Of the ₹40 lakh reward, ₹25 lakh for each player will be provided under the Mizoram State Incentive Cash Award Scheme, while the remaining ₹15 lakh will come from the Bana Kaih sports development programme. Several other outstanding sportspersons from the state were also honoured during the event.
The Chief Minister said the achievement demonstrated Mizoram’s immense sporting potential and highlighted the importance of quality training facilities and infrastructure. He noted that hockey had been identified as one of the priority disciplines under the state’s Empowering Mizoram Sports initiative.
Sports Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar announced that a hockey ground under construction at the Women’s Hockey Academy in Thenzawl would be named after Lalremsiami in recognition of her contribution to Indian hockey. He praised her role as one of the team’s key performers and said her success would inspire young athletes across the state.
Hmar further stated that the state government is expanding training and hockey development facilities under the Empowering Mizoram Sports programme. Additional funds have also been approved to strengthen sports infrastructure at the Thenzawl Women’s Hockey Academy.
