Meta’s Chief AI Officer, Alexandr Wang, has offered guidance for young teens aspiring to succeed in the future. The 28-year-old executive, who previously led Scale AI before Meta acquired a 49% stake in the startup, compared the current AI era to the early days of personal computing. Speaking on the TBPN podcast, Wang emphasized that 13-year-olds today could gain a significant edge by immersing themselves in new technologies, much like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg did with computers.
Wang advised youngsters to spend as much time as possible coding and experimenting with AI tools, suggesting that investing around 10,000 hours in mastering these technologies can provide a “huge advantage” in the future economy. He also highlighted the emerging concept of “vibe coding,” a method where developers use natural-language prompts to create software via AI, enabling innovation without writing traditional code—a term coined by OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy.
Wang, who became the youngest self-made billionaire at 25 by leveraging AI through Scale AI, urged young adults to dedicate themselves to learning AI tools and exploring creative applications, noting the extraordinary potential this technological shift offers.
