Medanta – The Medicity, ranked India’s Best Private Hospital by Newsweek for six consecutive years, has launched a consumer-focused campaign promoting a three-minute self-breast examination to help women detect breast cancer early. The initiative, part of the “Jaanta Hai Medanta” movement, aims to educate consumers about simple, actionable steps that can save lives while increasing awareness around preventive healthcare.
The video features Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta, demonstrating a three-step self-exam to be performed once a month, ideally 2–3 days after menstruation. The procedure involves examining the breast and armpit using light pressure in circular and up-and-down motions while observing for lumps, changes in skin texture, or nipple deformities. “Regular self-exams empower women to take control of their health and enable early detection, which significantly improves treatment outcomes,” Dr. Kaur said.
The initiative has generated noticeable consumer engagement. Local clinics report increased inquiries for preventive screenings, while pharmacies and wellness centers are offering educational materials and early-detection packages. The response highlights growing consumer interest in proactive health management and the market potential for preventive healthcare services in the region. With breast cancer being the most common cancer among Indian women, Medanta’s campaign combines awareness with market opportunities, encouraging consumers to take small yet impactful steps toward safeguarding their health.
