The Maruti Suzuki Ignis, although a capable and well-loved model, has often been underrated. Launched in India in 2017 as the third vehicle in Maruti’s Nexa series, this compact urban hatchback with a crossover design has maintained a loyal fan base. Recently, ahead of the festive season, the Ignis received a substantial price reduction following the implementation of the revised GST 2.0 tax structure effective from September 22. The price cuts range from ₹47,000 to ₹71,000 depending on the variant. For example, the Zeta MT variant’s price dropped from ₹6.97 lakh to ₹6.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The base model now starts at ₹5.35 lakh, down from ₹5.85 lakh, while the top-end Alpha AMT dual-tone trim is priced at ₹7.55 lakh, reduced from ₹8.26 lakh. The AMT variants have also become more affordable, with prices starting at ₹6.30 lakh compared to ₹6.89 lakh earlier. The Ignis is powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 81 bhp and 113 Nm of torque, paired with either a five-speed manual or five-speed AMT gearbox, offering reliable performance in the compact segment.
