Breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer among women, with one out of every 20 Indian women at risk of developing the condition in their lifetime. Some facts reveal that by 2030, almost two lakh new cases each year are likely to be diagnosed, highlighting the necessity for prompt early detection, awareness, and counseling support for the affected. Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers among women in Mizoram, India, with a high incidence rate compared to other regions. In line with this commitment and in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, has conducted a special Breast Cancer Champions’ Meet in Aizawl, Mizoram, to honor the strength, courage, and resilience of breast cancer survivors. The event was presided over by senior oncologists Dr. Pooja Agarwal, Consultant – Surgical Oncology (Breast Surgery), Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, and Dr. Aadil Adnan, Head, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Manipal Hospital, EM Bypass, who provided insights into the latest developments in breast cancer treatment and the need for holistic healing. Aligned with this year’s WHO theme, “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters”, the program highlighted the need to recognize each woman’s individual journey with breast cancer while spreading awareness on preventive measures and timely care.
