Kamrup district police managed to achieve success in an anti-drugs operation carried out after acting on a secret tip-off. In a sudden operation conducted by the police on Friday night at Kalyanpur under Nagarbera Police Station in the district, four notorious peddlers were caught red-handed with a huge quantity of suspected heroin.
This operation was carried out based on secret information from Assistant Superintendent of Police of Boko-Chhaygaon Sub-division, Jankishore Gogoi. According to that information, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge of Tupamari Outpost, Champak Kalita, and Officer-in-Charge of Nagarbera Police Station, Harjit Das, conducted a search in a residential house in Kalyanpur late at night in the presence of independent witnesses.
During the operation, the police team recovered a total of 72 grams of suspected heroin from two containers and 55 grams of heroin filled in 30 other vials. Apart from this, the police seized 157 empty vials or containers, four mobile handsets and cash Rs 3,240 from the spot.
The arrested persons have been identified as residents of Kalyanpur namely Zahadul Islam, Zamiran Nessa, Tohidul Ali and Mohammad Jamal Badshah of Bilasipara in Dhubri district. Following legal procedure, all the materials have been seized and the police have continued investigation to get more information regarding the incident.
