The Jiribam-Khongsang segment of the Jiribam-Imphal New Line was thoroughly inspected by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). As part of the 110.625 km Jiribam – Imphal railway project, the Jiribam – Khongsang stretch, which spans more than 55.36 km, is essential to improving rail connectivity in Manipur. The segment, which was first inaugurated in September 2022, now regularly runs freight train services to Khongsang, transporting necessities.

In order to guarantee the safe operation of trains in the section, the General Manager conducted a thorough examination of the infrastructure, including tunnels, bridges, track, and signaling systems. Track strengthening, geological stability problems like landslides, and security-related difficulties were among the major topics that the General Manager addressed while interacting with safety personnel at different stations. The Khongsang – Noney (18.25 km) and Noney – Imphal (37.02 km) segments are expected to be put into service in the upcoming years as the project progresses.

When the Jiribam-Imphal railway line is finished, it would revolutionize Manipur’s connections and spur regional and economic development. One of the most important connectivity projects for the northeast is the new line railway project between Jiribam and Imphal. By implementing a number of new railway line projects, Indian Railways is making a substantial contribution to the transformation of the Northeastern states, and the Jiribam-Imphal connectivity project is essential to the entire picture.
