Manipal Hospitals EM Bypass, Kolkata, conducted a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training and health awareness session for journalists in Aizawl, Mizoram, under its flagship initiative, ‘Anveshana – Medical Education for Media’. The program aimed to equip media personnel with critical lifesaving skills and reliable healthcare knowledge to ensure responsible reporting on health issues. Dr. Raja Mazumder, Attending Consultant, Emergency, Manipal Hospital EM Bypass, led the hands-on session, demonstrating essential CPR techniques and guiding participants on how to act during cardiac emergencies. Highlighting the urgency, Dr. Mazumder said, “Every second counts during cardiac arrest. Immediate CPR before medical help arrives can make the difference between life and death.” Around 25-30 journalists received CPR training certificates and privilege health cards, usable across all Manipal Hospitals in India.

In Aizawl, the initiative has been welcomed as a significant step toward community health preparedness. Local media representatives acknowledged the session’s importance, noting that awareness and timely intervention can save lives, especially in Mizoram’s hilly terrain where hospital access is challenging. The program also strengthens Manipal Hospitals’ outreach in the region, reflecting its commitment to spreading healthcare education and preparedness.

With a history of training over 4,000 real-life CPR heroes in Kolkata and recognition from the Guinness World Records for emergency preparedness in Bengaluru, Manipal Hospitals continues its nationwide mission to empower citizens with lifesaving skills.
