Mizoram Health & Family Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii on Saturday graced as the chief guest the ongoing first-ever NCC Fest & Parasailing Camp in Mizoram, organised by 2 Mizo Battalion National Cadet Corps at C. Ṭhuamluaia Mual, Lunglei. The Minister was accompanied by Lunglei High Powered Committee (HPC) Vice Chairman Pu V. Malsawmtluanga, Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) Vice Chairman Pu K. Lalrinawma and district officials. Commanding Officer of 2 Mizo Battalion NCC, Col. Sagar K. Mohanty, along with NCC officers, army personnel and cadets, accorded her a warm reception. NCC cadets also presented a Guard of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Lalrinpuii expressed happiness that Lunglei was hosting Mizoram’s first NCC Fest and Parasailing Camp and thanked the organisers for bringing the event to south Mizoram. She said the programme reflected the Mizoram government’s commitment towards balanced development across all regions of the state and highlighted the proposed establishment of Mizoram State University at Lunglei as one such initiative.

Referring to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Minister stressed the importance of empowering youth and described NCC as an ideal platform for nurturing disciplined, responsible and capable citizens. She encouraged cadets to equip themselves with modern knowledge and skills, adapt to changing global realities and contribute positively towards national integration and nation-building.

The programme also featured a felicitation ceremony honouring NCC alumni, individuals who rendered valuable services to NCC and youth development, and State achievers. The Minister presented awards and mementoes on behalf of NCC. She later visited various stalls and interacted with exhibitors. The event also featured performances by the 23 Assam Rifles Pipe Band and cultural presentations by NCC cadets. A concert featuring prominent artistes is also scheduled in the evening.

The first-ever NCC Fest & Parasailing Camp in Mizoram is being held in Lunglei from May 5 to 11 to promote awareness about NCC and encourage youth participation. Cadets from different North Eastern states are taking part in the programme. The Parasailing Camp commenced on May 5 at 2nd Battalion MAP Ground, Luangmual, while the NCC Fest was held on May 8 and 9 at C. Ṭhuamluaia Mual.

The Fest included interactive sessions with senior government and military officials, meetings with NCC alumni, and a variety of exhibition stalls showcasing NCC activities, arms and equipment displays by the Border Security Force, Assam Rifles and Territorial Army Battalion, as well as stalls by the District Legal Services Authority and District Disaster Management Authority. Traditional Mizo handloom and handicraft products, along with a variety of Mizo delicacies, are also showcased at the event.
