Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati visited the Regional Institute of Paramedical and Nursing Sciences (RIPANS) at Zemabawk, Aizawl, on Monday, where he inspected the newly constructed 100-bedded hospital and other key infrastructures on the campus. Accompanied by Dr. Sanjay D. Sawant, Director of RIPANS, and other colleagues, the Governor toured various sections and wards of the new hospital. The faculty expressed optimism about the hospital’s operational readiness by the end of the year. They highlighted the need for improvements to the approach road by the Mizoram Public Works Department (MPWD) and sought support from the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and Power & Electricity (P&E) Departments for essential water and power supplies.

Governor Kambhampati also reviewed other critical infrastructures, including the Medical Superintendent Quarters, Doctors’ Quarters, Staff Nurse Quarters, Indoor Sports Complex & Auditorium, General Hostel, Guest House, and Academic Building Block IV. Following the inspection, an official meeting was held at the RIPANS Conference Hall, where Dr. Sanjay D. Sawant delivered a welcome address. Dr. Ruby Z. Ralte, Administrative Officer, provided a comprehensive overview of RIPANS, detailing its programs, courses, major infrastructures, faculty, social contributions, and upcoming initiatives.

Governor Kambhampati congratulated the RIPANS officials on their rapid infrastructural development. He expressed his delight at the prospects of the new 100-bedded hospital evolving into a top national-level multi-speciality hospital, similar to AIIMS, and anticipated its full functionality by early next year. He emphasized the positive impact this facility would have on the healthcare sector not only in Mizoram but across the Northeast region. Established in 1995-96 under the North Eastern Council (NEC), RIPANS was transferred to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) on April 1, 2007, and remains the only institute under the ministry’s administrative control.
