
Due to the increasing water level of the Ganga river in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police have urged the public to remain in safe areas, as ongoing rainfall has caused a rise in the river’s water levels.
In light of this situation, rescue teams have been put on standby. The administration is persistently monitoring the sensitive regions of Rishikesh, Muni Ki Reti, and Laxman Jhula. Officials are consistently overseeing the circumstances and urging the public to exercise caution.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Dehradun has announced a red alert for “very heavy rainfall” accompanied by “thunderstorms, lightning, and squall” for the districts of Dehradun, Uttarkashi, and Tehri Garhwal on Tuesday.
The Met Centre has announced a yellow alert for the remaining districts, which include Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Udham Singh Nagar, and Haridwar. Earlier on Monday, Sarita Dobhal, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Uttarkashi, conducted an inspection of the areas impacted by landslides along the Yamunotri National Highway and assessed the safety protocols established to address the situation.
