A meeting was held on Wednesday in Aizawl under the chairmanship of V. Lalsangliana, Commissioner and Secretary, PWD and UP&PA, who has been appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) as the Electoral Roll Observer for Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026 for Aizawl district. 
The meeting was attended by  SIR, 2026 officials, representatives of NGOs and representatives of political parties.
During the meeting, Lalhriatpuia, District Election Officer (DEO) and Deputy Commissioner, Aizawl district, presented a report on the progress achieved so far and the various activities planned under SIR, 2026 in Aizawl district.
Explaining the purpose of the meeting, Electoral Roll Observer V. Lalsangliana stated that he wished to assess whether the various phases and activities prescribed by the Election Commission of India for the implementation of SIR, 2026 in Aizawl district were being carried out effectively and whether they would be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He also sought to ascertain whether adequate Public awareness programmes had been conducted and to understand the challenges faced and suggestions offered by the DEO, EROs, AEROs, BLOs and BLAs. In addition, he expressed his desire to hear the feedback, observations and recommendations of NGOs and political parties.
V. Lalsangliana further stated that the Electoral Rolls under SIR,2026 is currently in the Claims and Objections period. He stressed the importance of identifying any eligible voters who may have been left out of the electoral roll and any ineligible names that may have been included. He noted that this is the appropriate period for fresh enrolment, correction of entries, and deletion of ineligible names. As SIR, 2026 provides an opportunity for Mizoram  to prepare an accurate, error-free and clean electoral roll, he appealed to political parties and NGOs to extend their fullest cooperation and support to EROs, AEROs, BLOs and BLAs in carrying out the exercise successfully.
The meeting was attended by the DEO, Deputy DEO, EROs, AEROs, representatives of the Superintendent of Police, representatives of political parties, and representatives of various NGOs.
Following the meeting at the DC Conference Hall, Electoral Roll Observer V. Lalsangliana, accompanied by the concerned EROs and AEROs, visited the polling stations of: 13/11-Zuangtui, 13/10-Muanna Veng, 10/5-Durtlang and 10/8-Durtlang ‘V’.
