Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar chaired a high-level review meeting to oversee preparations for the upcoming Anthurium Festival, scheduled to take place from October 1 to 3 across Reiek and Ailawng. Organized jointly by the Tourism and Horticulture Departments, the annual event relies on wide-scale inter-departmental cooperation and community participation to showcase the state’s cultural and ecological highlights. Emphasizing the economic benefits of Mizoram’s expanding tourism sector, Minister Hmar noted how increasing visitor inflow directly supports local micro-enterprises, including vendors, taxi operators, and hospitality businesses. The planning meeting addressed logistical coordination among government entities, the Young Mizo Association (YMA), local leaders, the Zo Anthurium Grower Society, event managers, and indigenous games organizers. Over the three-day celebration, attendees will experience traditional Mizo games, flower garden tours, shooting competitions, children’s recreational activities, and adventure experiences such as guided trekking and cave exploration at Khuangchera Puk, Thawngpawnga Puk, and Ngaitei Puk. Evening entertainments will include performances by popular Mizo artists during “Leikapui Night” and a grand closing concert. To manage expected visitor surges and ensure smooth road access along the Reiek corridor, authorities also reviewed traffic management strategies and proposed issuing a detailed travel advisory for commuters and festival attendees.
