BJP Mizoram State President K. Beichhua on Friday announced that the party will give top priority to improving the state’s road infrastructure—especially National Highway 306—if it comes to power in the 2028 Assembly elections.

Speaking at the BJP state office in Aizawl, Beichhua described NH-306, also known as NH-6, as Mizoram’s “lifeline” that connects the state to Assam and the rest of the country. He criticised the current and past governments for neglecting the highway’s poor condition. “Despite its importance, no government has taken responsibility for maintaining or upgrading the road,” he said.

Beichhua, a former minister and three-time MLA, claimed that Mizoram would have seen major infrastructure development had the BJP formed the government in 2023. He added that only a BJP-led administration could ensure meaningful development and employment opportunities in the state. Highlighting the party’s focus areas, he promised to fill vacancies in the police and other departments if elected. “Only BJP has the ability to bring funds and deliver,” he asserted. With infrastructure and job creation at its core, Beichhua’s statement laid the groundwork for the BJP’s 2028 election campaign in Mizoram.
