Apple is reportedly shaking up its smartphone strategy for the upcoming iPhone 18 generation by splitting its traditional launch schedule and introducing notable price increases across premium models. According to widespread industry leaks, Apple plans to debut its top-tier devices—the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its long-rumored first foldable iPhone—in September 2026. Meanwhile, buyers eyeing the standard iPhone 18 and entry-level iPhone 18e will need to wait until spring 2027 as Apple shifts its standard lineup rollout cadence.
Rising component and production costs are the primary drivers behind expected price hikes. Transitioning to TSMC’s advanced 2nm A20 silicon significantly boosts chip manufacturing expenses, leading analysts to estimate price increases between $100 and $300. Under these forecasts, the iPhone 18 Pro could start at $1,299, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max could begin at $1,399.
On the aesthetic side, leaked dummy units suggest that while the Pro series will retain its familiar chassis sizing and overall design language, Apple is refreshing its color palette. The flagship shade for 2026 is rumored to be a rich “Dark Cherry” finish, offered alongside updated Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver options. Combined with hardware leaks pointing to a slimmer Dynamic Island and upgraded variable-aperture camera system, the upcoming flagship models are geared to position themselves as Apple’s most sophisticated lineup yet.
