Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced the ongoing efforts to provide domestic gas pipeline connections in Aizawl, during the inauguration of the Saksham 2025–26 Oil and Gas Conservation Awareness Campaign organized by Indian Oil Corporation Limited. The Chief Minister noted the steady progress of pipeline construction originating from Tripura and highlighted the government’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the oil and gas sector within the state. This includes intensified exploration activities for oil and gas resources beneath Mizoram’s soil and initiatives to harness the state’s green energy potential, emphasizing sustainability, as aligned with the campaign’s themes.
Minister B. Lalchhanzova, who attended the event, reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring uninterrupted gas supply and mentioned the ongoing upgrades at the Mualkhang Gas Bottling Plant. Additionally, plans are underway to establish an Oil Depot to mitigate issues stemming from past disruptions in oil supply. He emphasized the vital role of distributors in providing public service, urging them to maintain dedication to prevent inconveniences for citizens.
The campaign will feature various awareness programs focusing on oil and gas conservation. According to data from the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), Mizoram’s oil consumption for the fiscal year 2024–25 included 119.20 thousand metric tonnes of diesel, 58.83 thousand metric tonnes of petrol, and 34.6 thousand metric tonnes of LPG. Currently, Mizoram is serviced by 60 LPG distributors and 115 petrol stations, with a total of approximately 422,661 registered vehicles in the state. The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks from Lalhruaitluanga, Managing Director of MIZOFED.
