A new Aadhaar Seva Kendra is set to open in Aizawl, Mizoram, aimed at expediting the Aadhaar enrolment process. This announcement was made during a State-Level Unique Identification Implementation Committee (UIDIC) meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena. Deputy Director General Ngachan Zimik from UIDAI’s Guwahati office stated that the center is expected to be operational by March 31, 2026, and will address the enrolment needs of Aizawl’s residents. Key officials, including Colonel Abhishek Koushik and various department heads, attended the meeting where Zimik presented an overview of the Aadhaar enrolment progress in the state, indicating a positive trend. He identified immediate focus areas such as enhancing enrolment for children aged 0-5 through Birth Registration Based Aadhaar Enrolment (BRBAE) at health facilities and accelerating efforts in low-saturation districts like Hnahthial and Lawngtlai. The Chief Secretary directed the Health Department to optimize the use of enrolment kits for child registration and urged the School Education Department to implement Mission Mode Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) camps in schools. The meeting concluded with a call for collaborative efforts among all departments and the UIDAI to ensure timely results.
