B. Lalchhanzova, Minister and MLA of Aizawl East–II Tuesday disbursed financial assistance from his MLA Fund to support the improvement of community sports facilities in his constituency. The funds were handed over at his office chamber at MINECO in Aizawl.
As part of the assistance, an amount of Rs. 7 lakh was given to the office bearers of the Chhinga Veng Branch of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) for upgrading the Chhinga Veng Branch YMA Gym. Another sum of Rs. 2.68 lakh was handed over to the Dawrpui Badminton Club for renovation work at the Dawrpui Badminton Hall. The funds are expected to help improve basic infrastructure and create better facilities for local players and residents who regularly use these centres.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Lalchhanzova highlighted the growing importance of sports in the lives of young people. He said it was encouraging to see Mizo youth steadily moving forward in different sports disciplines. He also noted that many Mizo sportspersons have brought recognition and pride to the community by performing well at national and international levels. According to him, proper facilities at the local level play a key role in shaping young talent and keeping youth engaged in healthy activities.
The minister further assured that he would continue to make efforts to support sports, recreation, and youth-oriented activities in his constituency. He said such initiatives not only promote physical fitness but also help build discipline and unity among young people.
