Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has slammed the CPI(M) and Congress, accusing them of ruining the state for 35 years and claiming that real freedom was achieved only after the BJP formed the government.
Speaking at a massive gathering at Swami Vivekananda Maidan to mark two years of the BJP-led government, Dr. Saha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP National President JP Nadda, who attended the event.
Attacking the opposition, CM Saha accused the CPI(M) of being the “root of terrorism, violence, and unrest”, while calling Congress a party of “corruption and lawlessness.” He alleged that during CPI(M)’s rule, two journalists were murdered, and the CBI investigation is ongoing. He also recalled the 1980s riots under their regime.
Dr. Saha highligjhted BJP’s developmental strides, stating that:
Tripura’s budget has doubled, with ₹7,000 crore allocated for infrastructure.
Per capita income and GSDP have improved.
Law and order have strengthened, making the state terrorism-free.
Connectivity has been enhanced under PM Modi’s ‘HIRA’ model (Highways, Internet, Railways, Airports).
33% reservation for women in government jobs has been implemented, with 8,000 more jobs planned.
Referring to the 2023 Assembly elections, Dr. Saha said that despite CPI(M) and Congress forming an alliance, BJP secured victory again under PM Modi’s leadership. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to Tripura’s development and stability.
