Three Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Mizoram — Phullen, Hnahlan, and Reiek — have earned certification under India’s National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), marking a significant milestone in the state’s healthcare development. The PHCs scored 90.68%, 93.36%, and 90.76% respectively, reflecting high standards in patient care, staff competence, and operational efficiency.
With this latest recognition, Mizoram now has 34 Health & Wellness Centre-PHCs (HWC-PHCs) certified nationally, moving closer to its target of 57. Reiek PHC, part of the Aspirational Block Programme (ABP), has contributed to the state’s achievement of five state-level and four national-level certifications out of seven targeted facilities.
Dr. Lily Chhakchhuak, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, hailed the certification as a testament to Mizoram’s commitment to quality healthcare. Health Minister Lalrinpuii also emphasized the importance of such recognitions, noting that certified government health centres ensure reliable, accessible, and patient-friendly care for the public.
Currently, 47 government health facilities in Mizoram hold NQAS national certification, while 19 health centres and 21 HWC Sub-Centres have state-level certification. Four more facilities are awaiting national-level results.
