Rajasthani puppetry (2)

Thirty women from Bamutiya Block in Tripura participated in a 25-day training program based on the traditional art of Rajasthani puppetry. The program, which is overseen by Megha Jain, the Additional District Magistrate of West Tripura, intends to give indigenous women and girls puppet-making and performing skills in addition to financial opportunities. Rajasthani experts will lead the lessons, which will cover a variety of topics related to puppetry, such as the creation of various puppets and the craft of puppet dancing.

Insights into other Rajasthani handicrafts that can improve livelihood options are also covered in the training. They will learn how to create puppets and then animate and perform with them over the course of the following 25 days. In their remarks, the initiative’s organizers hoped that the participants would get something from it and teach others how to do the same. Megha Jain emphasized the benefits of the program, stating that in addition to performing puppet shows, participants may make a nice living by selling the puppets.
