42 people died in the calamite in Mizoram between march and may 2024, according to officials, said.

In the Mizoram State Disaster Management Authority meeting set by the Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday, they said that 5,938 houses and buildings were destroyed due to disasters that had taken place.

Of the 42 dead, 34 were killed when houses were damaged by landslides in seven areas in the state capital Aizawl on May 28.

The inter-ministerial central team that reviewed the damage in June is hopeing that the Centre will extend financial aid after it submitts its report on Cyclone Remal’s devastation.

K Sapdanga, The Minister of State Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, opened up that the Mizoram government has requested Rs 237 crore from the Centre to aid in rehabilitation and reconstruct infrastructure destroyed by the cyclone. 

Through the time, temporary shelters are established in the Hlimen area for 41 affected families from Hlimen and Melthum localities.
