The Indian women’s hockey team will play Thailand in the Women’s Asia Cup 2025 at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Field Hockey Field, the hockey venue for the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The Indian squad is in Pool B with the defending Asia Cup champions Japan, Thailand, and Singapore, while the hosts China, Korea, Malaysia, and Chinese Taipei are in Pool A. The competition is scheduled for September 5–14, 2025, in Hangzhou, China.
This time, Team India, which took home the bronze in the last competition, will seek for the top podium position. In addition to bringing home continental honors, a win ensures the Asia Cup champions will automatically qualify for the 2026 Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup, a prestigious quadrennial competition. Salima Tete, the captain of India, commented on the competition, saying, “We are thrilled to start our campaign in the Women’s Asia Cup. Our abilities and moral fiber will be put to the test right away when we are paired with the reigning champions, Japan, in Pool B. Our training has been focused and intense, and we intend to carry out our strategies on the field throughout the competition.
