Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has opted out of the upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Pondicherry to focus on preparations for white ball cricket in anticipation of the T20 World Cup 2026. He has made himself available for the white ball fixtures scheduled for the season.
Shivam Dube has requested to skip the next Ranji Trophy game, and MCA has agreed, allowing him to focus on preparations for the upcoming South Africa T20I series.
Yadav has informed the MCA of his unavailability, which was accepted due to the impending T20 World Cup, allowing him to focus on that event. He will be available for the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Dube is preparing for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. The selectors have chosen Tanush Kotian and Mohit Awasthi for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy game, according to a source from the MCA.
This will be the last round of the first leg of Ranji Trophy games before the second leg begins on January 22. India is set to play a five-match T20I series against South Africa from December 9 to December 19, with matches in Cuttack and Ahmedabad. Previously, India secured a 2-1 victory against Australia in their last series.
The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) starts on November 26, and the Vijay Hazare Trophy takes place from December 24.
Yadav last represented Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semi-finals against Vidarbha earlier this year and has since been occupied with international commitments during the domestic season.
