The Mizoram Legislative Assembly has passed a resolution urging the state government to recommend a CBI investigation into the controversial Lengpui land acquisition, proposed for an Indian Air Force project. Mizo National Front (MNF) legislator R Lalthangliana, who moved the resolution, highlighted public concerns regarding the deal, alleging improper conduct and financial irregularities, including payments made to individuals without valid land ownership. Over Rs. 117.90 crore was reportedly paid to Henry Lalremsanga Hlawnmual and additional sums to Rohmingliana, raising suspicions of kickbacks to politicians and officials. Lalthangliana raised concerns about a special power of attorney that facilitated questionable dealings. Chief Minister Lalduhoma defended the current government, attributing the responsibility for the deal to the previous MNF administration, claiming that they conducted most of the preparatory work. After discussions, the Assembly unanimously adopted the resolution, emphasizing the need for a thorough CBI investigation into the matter.
