The Lunglei District Election Office today hosted the prize distribution ceremony for the “Wall of Democracy Competition 2025”, an innovative initiative designed to promote electoral awareness and strengthen democratic values among students. The event brought together participants from various Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) across educational institutions in the district.
The ceremony, held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Chamber, was graced by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Pi Navneet Mann, who presented awards to the winners. Commending the enthusiasm and creativity of students, she emphasized the significance of ELCs in nurturing responsible, informed, and participative citizens. Mann highlighted that such activities not only encourage civic engagement among youth but also help them understand the essence of democracy and the importance of their role in nation-building.
Providing an overview of the competition, Election Officer Pi Lalhruaitluangi reported that ELCs have been established in 46 educational institutions across Lunglei District, including 35 secondary schools, 7 higher secondary schools, and 4 colleges/institutions. Out of these, 17 institutions actively took part in the “Wall of Democracy Competition 2025.” District Information & Public Relations Officer and Media Nodal Officer Pu C. Lalhruaitluanga also spoke on the evaluation process and the creativity displayed by participants.
