Mizoram security forces conducted a joint operation in the Aizawl area and seized over 3,000 rounds of live ammunition. The Border Security Force (BSF) and the state police’s CID (Special Branch) conducted the operation in response to a particular information input. About 36 kilometers from Aizawl, in Seling village, the team stopped a pickup truck and seized 3,008 rounds of 7.62 millimeter live ammunition, valued at an estimated Rs 16.54 lakh. For unlawfully transporting the ammo, the driver, Lalawithanga, 48, of Zaungtui neighborhood in Aizawl, was immediately taken into custody. Civil witnesses were present during the operation, and authorities also impounded the transfer truck. At the Bawngkawn Police Station, an Arms Act charge has been filed. According to the police, more research is being done to identify the ammunition’s origin and final destination.
