The District Level Committee on Fire Prevention in Lawngtlai held a review meeting to assess ongoing fire prevention efforts and plan future strategies, officials said. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Donny Lalruatsanga at the DC Conference Hall, with participation from officials of various departments, local bodies, and community representatives. Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner thanked all stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation. He said awareness campaigns on fire prevention have shown good results and appreciated the role played by Village Councils, NGOs, churches, and the public in following government guidelines. He also acknowledged the contribution of media persons in spreading awareness among people.

Officials informed that no fire incidents have been reported in the district so far this year. The Deputy Commissioner said this marks a significant improvement compared to previous years, when such incidents were more frequent. He attributed the improvement to joint efforts by government departments and community groups and expressed hope that the district could receive recognition at the state level if the trend continues. A report was presented by K. Lalromawia, who said that forest fire prevention guidelines are being actively implemented across the district. He informed that awareness materials such as flyers and short videos have been prepared, while hoardings and stickers are being displayed in key areas. Campaigns have already been conducted in 34 villages, including programmes in schools.

Representatives from the CADC also shared updates, stating that regular field inspections are being carried out and no fire incidents have been recorded in areas under their jurisdiction. They highlighted strong cooperation from local bodies and organisations in maintaining vigilance. During the meeting, members discussed both past initiatives and future plans. The committee stressed the need to continue awareness drives and strengthen preventive measures. It was also suggested that more fire hydrants be installed and that prohibitory orders may be reissued if required.
