The 12 newly elected members of the Sinlung Hills Council took their Oath of Affirmation on Monday, marking the official start of their tenure. The ceremony was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Aizawl, with significant proceedings under the Sinlung Hills Council Act of 2018.
Lalhmingthanga, representing the 5-Ratu Constituency, was elected as the Pro-tem Chairman, as per Section 13(1) of the Sinlung Council Act. The oath was administered by Er. Lalhriatpuia, Deputy Commissioner of Aizawl. Following this, the Pro-tem Chairman administered the oath to the remaining elected members.
In line with Section 13(2) of the Sinlung Hills Council Act 2018, the Pro-tem Chairman called for nominations for the Chairman’s post, and R. Lalfakzuala of the 10-Tinghmun constituency, representing the MNF, was elected unopposed.
