The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has appointed Adelbert Susngi as the new Executive Director of its Aizawl regional office, replacing Virendra Kumar Jakhar. The move comes amid growing dissatisfaction over the dilapidated condition of the National Highways 306 and 06 in Mizoram, which have severely impacted the transport of essential goods and daily commuting. Mizoram’s Jane Lok Sabha member Richard Vanlalhmangaiha has informed NHIDCL Management Director Dr Krishan Kumar of the poor condition of the highways and has approved an initial sanction of Rs 50 crore for emergency repairs. The Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) has criticized Jakhar’s absence during the crisis.
