Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Thursday stated that the new agreement signed between the Mizoram Milk Producers Cooperation Union Limited (MULCO) and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will yield significant positive outcome and create livelihood opportunities for many people in the state.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a ceremony held at the CM’s Conference Hall, where MULCO and the NDDB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance milk production and processing in Mizoram.
Under the agreement, the NDDB will formulate a Comprehensive Dairy Development Plan for Mizoram, aligning with the Ministry of Cooperation’s flagship scheme, “White Revolution 2.0.” The NDDB will provide complete technical assistance and all necessary support to MULCO to execute the plan and achieve its objectives.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasised that the partnership will not only strengthen Mizoram’s dairy sector but will also enhance the income and livelihoods of numerous livestock farmers.
He noted that the Mizo people have a long-standing tradition of animal husbandry and possess ample land suitable for it. “By modernising with new technology and machinery, they can now utilize their skills more profitably,” he said. To ensure the swift implementation of the project, he also suggested the formation of a Project Monitoring Unit.
The event was also attended by Cooperation Minister PC Vanlalruata.
