Mizoram reported 145 tuberculosis-related deaths in 2025, the highest in six years, according to the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) data. A total of 2,275 cases were diagnosed, a slight decrease from 2,291 in 2024, yet fatalities rose significantly over the years from 31 in 2020 to 136 in 2024. Government health facilities identified 1,900 cases, while private centers recorded 375. Aizawl district had the most cases at 1,569, followed by Lunglei (155) and Kolasib (138), with Serchhip reporting the fewest at 52. Despite rising deaths, community involvement in TB care has increased, with over 100 individuals registering on the ‘Nikshay’ platform to support TB patients, aligning with the Prime Minister’s TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan initiative, which aims to boost community participation and improve treatment outcomes
