The Mizoram Police commemorated their 53rd Raising Day on January 21 with celebrations at the G.S. Arya Mess. Mizoram DGP Anil Shukla, senior officers, and retired personnel attended the event, which highlighted the force’s achievements and expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation.Since its establishment on January 21, 1972, the Mizoram Police have played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order.
In 2024, the force made significant strides, particularly in combating drug trafficking. Seizures included heroin, methamphetamine, and crystal meth valued at over ₹211 crore. Additionally, nearly 13 lakh kilograms of illegally imported foreign arecanuts and a cache of arms and ammunition were confiscated.The Mizoram Police also tackled cybercrime effectively, recovering ₹89.61 lakh and blocking 106 mobile phones linked to financial fraud.
Community outreach efforts, such as the ‘Drug-Free Mizoram Walk,’ furthered public awareness about substance abuse. In sports, Mizoram Police excelled at state and national levels, securing medals in judo, wrestling, and taekwondo, and achieving success in football tournaments. The force’s commitment extended beyond the state, with personnel deployed for election security in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and other states, ensuring peaceful polls.
