The North-East Multimedia Campaign (Red Fest), organized by the Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) and the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), took place at LPS Arena, Falkland. The event was attended by Health Minister Lalrinpuii as the chief guest and chaired by Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena. Minister Lalrinpuii highlighted the campaign’s goal of raising HIV/AIDS awareness among youth, promoting healthy lifestyles, ensuring accessible treatment, and addressing stigma associated with the illness. She stressed the importance of the ABC approach to HIV prevention: Abstinence, being loyal to a single partner, and responsible condom use. The minister expressed concern over the North-Eastern states’ high HIV prevalence and emphasized a collective commitment to combat the epidemic.

Chief Secretary Meena addressed the stigma and discrimination issues impeding HIV testing and treatment, advocating for empathy and awareness to ensure dignity and equal opportunities for those living with HIV. K. Lalrinzuali, Health and Family Welfare Commissioner, recognized project directors and NACO representatives with mementos. Launched in 2018 and hosted annually by different states, this year’s Red Fest was held in Mizoram, featuring project directors and officials from across the North-East. The campaign included a live stream on MSACS’s YouTube channel, with activities focusing on educating youth through music and multimedia, exhibition stalls showcasing educational materials, and performances celebrating the region’s diverse culture.
