In an effort to modernize transport management and alleviate administrative hurdles at border points, Mizoram will introduce an online border check-post module for simplifying entry tax collection from commercial vehicles. Developed with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the digital system is fully operational and aims to facilitate smoother fee collection and enhance vehicular movement at critical entry points. The initial implementation will occur at the Vairengte enforcement check gate on the Mizoram–Assam border and the Kanhmun check gate along the border with Tripura, which manage significant commercial traffic. With this initiative, Mizoram will be the 28th state to adopt a virtual border check-post, thus improving border management through technology. The system is anticipated to reduce delays, limit manual processes, and increase transparency in tax collection.
