As part of the continuing initiative “Promoting Scientific Organic Agriculture in North East India,” the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, launched important interventions through the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR). The project, which is funded by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), is a significant step in transforming organic farming throughout the state.

The project intends to institutionalize an organized, sustainable, and scientifically supported approach to organic farming, with a focus on 2,000 farmers in 20 clusters in Mizoram. Building capacity through scientific training, certifying land under the Participatory Guarantee System (PGS), and utilizing digital tools for real-time agricultural monitoring are some of the main goals. NECTAR gave 20 cellphones to assigned Master Trainers in order to facilitate effective data gathering and communication between field trainers and farmers.

The National Council for Agricultural Research and Training (NECTAR) in Mizoram has launched a project to improve the agricultural ecosystem in the region. The project also distributes high-quality planting materials like Orange, Banana, Ginger, Pineapple, and Green Chilli to farmers, aiming to improve ecological sustainability and economic outcomes. The initiative serves as a model for technology-enabled agricultural transformation across the Northeast.
