Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma has expressed concern over rising tensions and competition among state government departments, cautioning that such rivalries could undermine administrative efficiency and weaken service delivery. He called on government officers to adopt a spirit of cooperation and teamwork to ensure effective governance and smooth functioning of public services. Speaking to newly recruited Mizo Civil Service (MCS) officers who are undergoing foundation training, the Chief Minister observed that disputes often arise over postings, service placements, and inter-departmental coordination. Such conflicts, he said, not only create misunderstandings but also foster unhealthy competition among service associations.

Emphasising that the strength of the government depends on unity, Lalduhoma urged young officers to prioritise cooperation over competition. “Departments cannot function in isolation. The success of one office depends on the cooperation of others. Officers must build bridges, not walls, if we want to deliver good governance to the people of Mizoram,” he said. He also reminded officers that their responsibility extended beyond personal growth or departmental prestige. According to him, the welfare of subordinates and teamwork across departments should remain central to their approach. By working together, he added, officers could not only ease administrative challenges but also boost morale among staff members.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged persistent shortages of subordinate staff in many departments, which he said has put additional pressure on officers and slowed down routine work. He assured that the government was aware of the issue and was actively considering measures to fill these gaps. Officials said this could include targeted recruitment and better allocation of human resources. Lalduhoma stressed that a collaborative work culture is essential for improving governance standards in Mizoram. By reducing friction between departments and encouraging cross-departmental coordination, he believes that government services can be delivered more efficiently and with fewer delays.
