Mizoram Tourism Department was honoured with the Emerging Eco & Nature Retreat Award at the 10th International Tourism Conclave & Travel Awards (ITCTA), held on July 26 at Le Meridien, New Delhi. This recognition marks a significant milestone in Mizoram’s journey as an emerging eco-tourism destination in India.
The award was received on behalf of the state by Pi R. Lalrodingi, Director of Tourism, who represented Mizoram at the high-profile event. The accolade reflects Mizoram’s growing status as a sustainable and nature-centric travel destination that has been steadily attracting both domestic and international tourists.
The ITCTA is one of the leading platforms in India that acknowledges excellence and innovation in the tourism sector. The Emerging Eco & Nature Retreat Award recognizes states or regions that demonstrate a strong commitment to eco-tourism through conservation efforts, adoption of green practices, and promotion of low-impact travel experiences.
Mizoram’s lush landscapes, rich biodiversity, and unique cultural heritage have increasingly appealed to environmentally conscious travelers. Over the past few years, the state has made dedicated efforts to promote responsible tourism—ranging from community-based eco-retreats to awareness programs aimed at preserving its fragile ecosystems.
