The two-day monsoon session of the Mizoram Assembly concluded on Thursday, adjourned sine die, with Speaker Lalbiakzama praising members for their constructive participation and decorum. During the session, the House passed four significant bills, including the Mizoram Prohibition of Beggary Bill, 2025, and the Mizoram Local Bodies Ombudsman Bill, 2025, aimed at strengthening governance and social welfare measures. The Assembly received 350 starred and 105 unstarred questions, of which 342 starred and 97 unstarred questions were admitted for discussion.

In addition, 19 committee reports were presented, one official resolution on the Environment Act was adopted, and 13 papers were laid before the House. The session also included tributes to former Rajya Sabha member Ronald Sapa Tlau and Mizo National Front legislator Lalrintluanga Sailo, recognizing their contributions to the state’s political landscape. Speaker Lalbiakzama appreciated the members’ cooperation and encouraged them to continue fostering a collaborative environment within the House.

The session highlighted the Assembly’s focus on legislative productivity, addressing social issues, and ensuring transparency in governance. The passage of bills such as the Prohibition of Beggary and Local Bodies Ombudsman Bill reflects the state’s commitment to social welfare, law enforcement, and accountable governance, providing a roadmap for future legislative initiatives.
