Mizoram’s apex student body on Saturday urged the Center to take steps to ensure the safety and security of Mizo students in Manipur, which has been plagued by violence. As tensions rose in Manipur following the death of ten tribal members, Mizo Jirlai Paul expressed concern over the safety of Mizo students there. It requested the Center to temporarily shift the Mizoram part of Manipur’s technical and medical schools out of the neighboring state till the situation normalizes.
The party called on the Manipuris to look after themselves and encouraged the Lalduhoma government to take steps for the protection and security of the Meiti people living in Mizoram. In Assam’s Silchar Medical College and Hospital, the MZP has accused the Center and the Manipur government of delaying the post-mortem examination of the bodies of ten tribal members.
