Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday hailed the state’s achievement as the second least corrupt in India, calling it a “milestone” for Mizoram. He made the announcement while addressing the diamond jubilee celebration of the Mara Students’ Organisation (MSO). Citing findings from a recent corruption study, believed to be the CMS India Corruption Study report, Lalduhoma emphasized the significance of this recognition. “According to a researcher, our state is the second least corrupt in the country. This is a milestone for our state,” the chief minister said, underscoring the administration’s commitment to clean governance and transparency.

Highlighting Mizoram’s growing appeal as a tourism hub, Lalduhoma described the state as one of the best-performing in the Northeast in terms of visitor interest and attractions. He urged young people to actively participate in upholding integrity and to work alongside the government in combating corruption at every level. Since the formation of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) government in December 2023, Lalduhoma noted that 515 new jobs have been created up to August this year. Additionally, 2,087 posts have been approved for direct recruitment, along with 532 positions to be filled through limited departmental examinations, reflecting the administration’s focus on employment generation and transparent governance.

The chief minister’s remarks reinforced Mizoram’s commitment to ethical administration, public accountability, and youth involvement in building a corruption-free state, signaling a focused effort to balance development with integrity.
