The recent election for the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) achieved an impressive voter turnout of 83.99%, with the election held smoothly across 25 Member of District Council (MDC) constituencies. The electorate comprised 56,873 registered voters, including 27,854 men and 29,019 women. To facilitate the voting process, 111 polling stations were established, although four were deemed unmotorable: three could only be accessed on foot, and one required a boat due to the challenging geographical terrain. The election featured a diverse range of political representation, with candidates from the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) contesting in all 25 constituencies, while the Mizo National Front (MNF) participated in 20 seats, the Congress (INC) in 14, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 10, and 11 Independent candidates also ran for election.

Vote counting is set for December 9, 2025. The current term for the sitting MDCs will conclude on December 18, 2025.
