The much-anticipated Leitlangpui Music Festival (LMF) 2025 was inaugurated today at Kawmzawl, Pukpui, Lunglei by Mizoram’s Health & Family Welfare Minister, Pi Lalrinpuii. The three-day festival, held from 13 to 15 November, celebrates Mizo art, culture and music, while promoting tourism and local entrepreneurship. Speaking at the inaugural function, Minister Pi Lalrinpuii expressed her happiness over the successful inauguration of the second edition of the festival, noting that the first edition held last year had been successfully organised. She emphasised that government support alone cannot ensure success without public participation, and highlighted the festival’s potential to boost tourism and create economic opportunities for the people of Lunglei and the State as a whole.

The Minister also shared updates on several State initiatives, including the upcoming Mizoram Engineering College at Lunglei, rehabilitation programmes for substance dependents, and the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS), which has so far covered over 46,000 patients across the State. Deputy Commissioner Pi Navneet Mann, Chairperson of the LMF Working Committee, lauded the collective efforts behind organising the second edition of the festival. She described LMF as a celebration of Mizo identity, creativity and unity, as well as a platform for cultural exchange and economic growth. The inaugural evening featured vibrant performances by MCAA Sub-Headquarters Lunglei (Khuallam), Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA Cultural Troupe (Cheraw), Lunglei Headquarters MUP (Bawhhla), and several popular Mizo artistes. ZOHANDCO Chairman Pu JK Dawngzuala and Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA President Pu K. Lalfakzuala also delivered speeches, while Tourism Director Pi R. Lalrodingi proposed the vote of thanks.

The festival also features stalls showcasing traditional crafts, local cuisines and tourism activities, with over 100 exhibitors participating. Organised by the Tourism Department with support from the Tourism Ministry, Government of Mizoram, and private sponsors, LMF 2025 includes the Leitlangpui Band Contest, Hathkargha Mela – State Handloom Expo of ZOHANDCO, and a variety of musical performances and cultural showcases. The event is expected to draw large crowds and promote Lunglei as an emerging destination for cultural and music tourism in Mizoram.
